Who you are dealing with

Gustavo Rivera

I prepare and file Mexican residency applications for foreign nationals in Los Cabos. That is the whole business. There is no department to be transferred to.

How I work

The same person, from your first message to your card

Immigration paperwork is not complicated in the way people fear. It is unforgiving in a way people underestimate. The forms are in Spanish — and government Spanish has its own vocabulary, so being fluent is not the same as knowing which box a notary's stamp belongs in. A mismatched date or a missing page does not get corrected at the counter. It gets the file sent back, and back means another queue on another morning.

It is also common for an application to involve several days of waiting in line: once to submit, and again to check the status of the file. Hiring me removes that from your calendar entirely, and removes the mistakes that would cost you far more time than they cost me to avoid.

Experience is the difference between a short, uneventful application and a long, problematic one. My knowledge of Mexican immigration procedure works in your favour — that is the entire value of what I do.

Where I work, and where I file

My work is done at the immigration office in Los Cabos, serving Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, the Corridor and the surrounding communities of Baja California Sur.

If your case belongs to a different immigration office, I will tell you at the start rather than take it on and slow you down.

“If you are interested, please contact me. I look forward to helping you in an honest and professional manner.”

What you can hold me to

Four things I promise you, and one I will not

You talk to me, always

The person who answers your first e-mail is the person who walks your file through the immigration office. Nothing is handed off to a name you have never heard.

One figure, in writing, before I start

You get a quote after a short conversation, and it does not grow halfway through. Government fees are separate and charged at cost, with the receipt.

You will hear it if the answer is no

If you do not qualify, or not yet, I will say so in the first conversation. Taking money for a file that is going to be refused is not a business I am interested in running.

Your documents stay yours

Passports, bank statements and personal records are handled only for your application and returned to you. Nothing is shared with anyone who is not part of your file.

And the thing I will not promise: an outcome. Residency decisions are made by the Mexican immigration authorities and by the consulates, not by me. Anyone who guarantees you an approval is selling you something they do not control. What I can promise is that your file will be complete, correct and filed on time, which is the part that is actually in my hands.

Free, no obligation

Ask me anything before you commit

Describe your situation in a couple of lines. I will tell you the route, the documents and the cost — and whether it is worth doing at all.
