Whatever your case is, I prepare it and I file it
The work is the same in every case: get the file right the first time, take it to the immigration office, and follow it until the card is printed. What changes is which door you walk through. Let me show you the six.
Service 01
First-time temporary residency
You went to a Mexican consulate, you sat the interview, and you left with a resident visa stamped in your passport. Careful here, because this is where people get confused: that stamp is not your residency card. It is permission to come to Mexico and apply for one, and you have six months to use it.
The exchange is called the canje. I prepare the application, I put your documents in order, I submit the file at the immigration office in Los Cabos, and I follow it until they issue your card.

Service 02
Temporary residency renewal
Temporary residency is granted first for one year, and after that you renew it for one, two or three years at a time, up to four in total. I repeat this to every client: the renewal is not automatic, and it is not something to leave for the week your card expires.
I file renewals inside the window the law allows, before the card expires. If yours already expired, tell me. There is a way back, but it is not the same procedure, and the sooner I look at it the better for you.

Service 03
From temporary to permanent
After four straight years as a temporary resident, you can change your status to permanent. And in some cases you get there sooner: if your income or your savings already meet the permanent requirement, or through family ties.
Permanent residency ends the renewal cycle for good. No expiry date, no yearly paperwork, and permission to work comes included instead of being requested separately.
Something worth knowing
Temporary is not a consolation prize
It is very common to feel let down when the consulate grants you temporary and you were hoping for permanent. I see it all the time. But in practice, temporary residency lets you do almost everything permanent does. The differences are few, and in daily life they matter less than people expect. It is a solid first step, and it converts.
Service 04 · expedited
Permanent residency in three to four days
If you already hold a resident visa stamp and you meet the financial requirement, I run the exchange and the change of status one after the other, instead of weeks apart (running it this way carries an extra fee, and you hear that figure before I start).
The exchange
I submit your documents at the immigration office. Three to four hours there, they take your biometrics, and they issue your temporary resident card the same day.
Change of status
I file for permanent residency with the card they issued the day before. Immigration gives us a case number confirming the file is in process.
Permanent card
Usually it is ready the next day. Biometrics once more, and they hand you the permanent resident card.
- A valid Mexican resident visa in your passportIssued by a consulate, and still inside its six-month window. Verify the date.
- The financial requirement, by savings or by incomeEither an average balance over the last twelve months, or steady monthly deposits over the last six. The amounts are set by the authorities and revised every year, so ask me for the figures in force today.
- Your documentsYour passport, plus your second passport if you hold dual nationality, or your current residency card from the country where you live.
Service 05
Family unity
Are you the spouse, the parent or the child of a Mexican citizen? Or of a foreigner who already holds residency in Mexico? Then you may be able to apply from inside the country, without a consulate appointment abroad.
A lot of people skip this route because they assume they have to meet an income requirement. If you have a close relative with Mexican nationality or residency, tell me before you start booking flights to a consulate. One conversation can save you the trip.

- Parent of a Mexican childA child born in Mexico counts.
- Child of a Mexican citizen, or of a residentYour birth certificate, showing the relationship.

Family unity cases go straight to the immigration office. The documents that prove the relationship have to be in order, and that is where these cases usually get stuck. It is the first thing I check.
Service 06
Regularization
If you are in Mexico with an expired document, or in an irregular migratory situation, there is a legal way back. Some conditions apply and not every case qualifies, but far more do than people assume.
The worst thing you can do is wait. Time almost never improves an immigration file, and the longer a document has been expired, the fewer options you have. Bring it to me and I will tell you honestly what is left.
